What to Expect

Our 4-Step Rehab Process

Step 1: Assessment

Your journey begins with an in-depth assessment.

We start by discussing your concerns and medical history, then examine your movement to pinpoint the source of your pain. By the end of this first visit, you’ll know what’s causing your discomfort.

Step 2: Treatment Plan

Next, a customized treatment plan is crafted for you.

We create a personalized treatment plan for you. We explain your diagnosis and recommended therapies, making sure you understand how each part addresses your goals. We also set clear milestones so you know what to expect as you progress.

Step 3: Active Rehab

With the plan in place, you begin active rehabilitation.

Each session combines hands-on therapy (e.g. massage or joint mobilization) with guided exercises specific to your condition. We monitor your progress closely and adjust as needed to safely build your strength and mobility.

Step 4: Progress Check

Regular check-ins close the loop on your recovery journey.

During these sessions, we reassess your symptoms, celebrate your gains, and modify your plan (for example, adding more challenging exercises as you get stronger). We also provide advice on maintaining your results and avoiding future issues, so you stay healthy and injury-free long after therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

A physiotherapist is a trained healthcare professional who helps people restore, maintain, and maximize their physical strength and mobility. We work with you to relieve pain, recover from injuries, improve posture, and enhance performance. At Activex Physio, our therapists use an exercise-first approach – we’ll design a targeted exercise program to address your issues, complemented by hands-on treatments (like massage, stretching, or needling) as needed. Our goal is to help you move better and live your best life.

Most health insurance plans in Singapore do cover physiotherapy to some extent. Coverage varies, so it’s best to check with your insurance company about your specific plan’s benefits. In many cases, physiotherapy by a licensed practitioner (like us) can be claimed up to an annual or per-session limit. We will issue you an invoice after each session which you can submit for reimbursement. (Note: We do not offer direct billing to insurance, so you’ll need to claim it yourself. Also, as mentioned above, some insurers might ask for a doctor’s referral before honoring the claims.)

Consider seeing a physiotherapist if you have any kind of pain, injury, or physical discomfort that isn’t getting better on its own. We can help whether you’re recovering from an injury, dealing with a chronic condition (like long-term pain or arthritis), or want to prevent future injuries and improve your fitness. Physiotherapy isn’t only for serious injuries – it’s also beneficial for:

  • Maximizing athletic performance: Learn exercises and techniques to improve your strength, flexibility, and form, so you can excel in sports or workouts.
  • Injury prevention: Address muscle imbalances or weaknesses to reduce the risk of sprains, strains, and other common injuries.
  • Pre- & post-surgery rehab: Prepare your body before an operation and rehabilitate afterward (for example, strengthening your knee before/after an ACL surgery or shoulder after rotator cuff repair).
  • Everyday issues: Find relief for back or neck pain from poor posture, work ergonomics issues, headaches, or balance and dizziness problems (vestibular conditions).

If you’re not sure, feel free to reach out and ask – we can advise if physiotherapy is right for your situation.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in injured tissues. It’s especially effective for stubborn, chronic conditions. For example, shockwave can help treat tendon injuries (like Achilles tendonitis or tennis elbow), plantar fasciitis (heel pain), and other lingering musculoskeletal problems. The treatment is quick (sessions last only a few minutes) and can provide pain relief with lasting results. It’s a safe alternative to surgery or long-term medication for many people.

If you are unsure whether Shockwave Therapy is suitable for you, leave our friendly staff a message – we’ll be happy to advise.

Yes, we offer one-on-one Pilates sessions guided by our physiotherapists. These can be incorporated into your rehab program or as part of a preventive wellness routine. Pilates is great for improving core strength, flexibility, and posture, and when it’s led by a certified physiotherapist as part of your treatment, it may be claimable under some health insurance plans.*

*Pilates can be covered by insurance when administered by a physiotherapist as part of your rehab. Please consult with your insurance company regarding coverage.

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to consult a physiotherapist in Singapore. We are primary healthcare professionals, which means you can come directly to us whenever you have an injury or concern. However, if you plan to claim our sessions under insurance, do check your policy – some insurers require a doctor’s referral for reimbursement purposes. We’ll provide all the necessary documentation (receipts, treatment notes) to help with your claim.

Please bring along any relevant medical documents that could help us understand your condition – for example, referral letters from doctors, X-ray or MRI reports, etc. It’s also important to dress comfortably in attire that allows us to examine the injured area. Sporty clothing like shorts or leggings and a T-shirt is usually ideal. If your issue is related to running or a sport that uses specific shoes or equipment, you can bring those shoes or gear along too. Essentially, come in something you can move in easily, so we can assess you properly and start treatment right away.

We understand that life happens, and sometimes you may need to reschedule. If possible, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment. This allows us to offer the slot to someone else who may need it. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment time may incur a full charge, as it can be difficult to fill the slot on short notice. We do make exceptions for true emergencies – just let us know what’s going on.

To cancel or reschedule, simply call or WhatsApp us, or send us an email. We’ll do our best to accommodate you with a new appointment time.

Yes we now offer telehealth consultations.
